Fine line between stubborn and persistent

This weekend was an exercise in patience. And made me think: what, really, is the difference between stubborn and persistent? Dictionary definitions aside, I say it's all about perspective. Stubborn is when someone (or thing) doesn't want to do what you want. Persistent is when they (or it) want to do something you don't.

Stubborn v. persistent... you decide:
1. Ink on clothes and the inside of a dryer due to exploded ballpoint pen accidently left in pocket. (Side note: a combo of nail polish remover, Fels Naptha soap and some serious elbow grease seems to be doing the trick)

2. Carson wanting to eat only waffles yesterday ("waffle, mama, with dip-dip"). Other things were OK, but they had to be served with waffles - including cheese (both orange and white), watermelon, eggs and leftover pizza.

3. www.sprint.com loading any page I click on - except the page that has the information I need. Argh!

4. After watching lots of Olympics over the weekend, a certain little boy decides that he wants to walk, walk, walk, turn around, bounce, bounce, jump, splash! (a.k.a. dive) on the couch. Over and over and over - for at least 30 minutes, until he's sweaty and has slimed both ends of the couch because he's laughing so hard he's drooling. By the time gymnastics and diving are over in a few days, guaranteed there will be a bloody nose or lip! (Side note: How unbelievable was the Opening Ceremony? The Chinese should be in charge of that for ever... the precision of the thousands of performers combined with the technical stunts = awesome. Those light-up drums will be in a marching band contest sometime this fall, I know it!)
